Welcome to rAzAlpin.orgMathieu and Philippe Razanakolona, two brothers born in Canada with Malagasy blood, have decided to share their African roots and present Madagascar to the World, in there own way of course. Madagascar is an island with beautiful indigenous fauna and flora and with incredible potential but it is also a country in need of and seeking international support. The rAz brothers’ project is to represent Madagascar in alpine skiing at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Mathieu will be an African skier, the first Malagasy competing in an Olympic winter event! The Olympic Games, the most prestigious sport events, offer significant exposure for our sponsors. This presence at the Winter Olympics has a dual purpose for the Razanakolona’s: the realization of an Olympic dream and a way of subsidizing a development program for Madagascar. Philippe is creating a non-profit organisation, “rAzAlpin.org”, that will establish a development program and manage the funds. “rAzAlpin.org” will form partnerships to finance a development program in Madagascar. The program will be in accordance with the United Nations “Millennium Goals” for Madagascar and will fund sustainable development projects. Mathieu is much more than an African athlete competing in the winter Olympics. He is a Canadian, of Malagasy descent, proudly promoting and actively aiding in the development of Madagascar. This is a first at the Olympic Games and a unique opportunity for Madagascar to gain positive international visibility. |
